Pet Portraits, Painted with Heart & Soul

Since I was a child, I’ve loved to draw and create. Animals have always held a special place in my life — from dogs and ducks to rabbits and everything in between. They’ve been companions, comfort, and joy, and that love naturally found its way into my art.
When I paint a pet portrait, every brushstroke comes from a place of care and connection. Our pets are family. They see us at our best and our hardest moments, offering unconditional love without ever asking for anything in return. I understand how deep that bond runs.
Many of the portraits I’ve created have been memorials, honoring pets who are no longer physically with us. Being trusted with something so meaningful has been incredibly humbling. I’ve watched these pieces bring tears, comfort, and memories flooding back — and it’s an honor to play even a small role in preserving that love.
One weekend, while rereading my book Italy with a Side of Mayo, I stumbled upon a line that stopped me in my tracks:
“I’ve always wished that I could paint people’s ‘little dogs’ for them in some form.”
Reading those words years later felt surreal. What I once wrote as a quiet wish had somehow manifested into a meaningful part of my life and work. Creating pet portraits isn’t just art for me — it’s storytelling, memory, and love, captured on canvas. Each brushstroke I make is filled with love towards my subject. It is truly and honor to pain these beautiful souls.
How to Order Your Pet Portrait
Ordering a pet portrait is simple and personal — just the way it should be.
1. Choose Your Portrait Size
— 5 inches x 7 inches: $300
— 11 inches x 14 inches $600
Each portrait is hand-painted with care and attention to detail.
2. Submit Your Photos
After placing your order, you’ll be prompted to email one or more clear photos of your pet. Natural lighting and close-ups of their face help me capture their personality best. Please check your junk folder for a email from info@MatczakMethod.com with these instructions.
If you’re unsure which photo to use, I’m happy to help you choose.
3. Share Their Story (Optional but Encouraged)
Tell me a little about your pet — their name, quirks, or what makes them special to you. These details help me bring their spirit to life on canvas.
4. Creation Process
Once I receive your photos and details, I’ll begin painting your portrait. Each piece is created by hand, with love and intention. Because these are custom works, turnaround time typically ranges from 1-2 weeks depending on volume.
5. Shipping
Your finished portrait will be carefully packaged and shipped to you, ready to be displayed or gifted.
A Gentle Note
Because each portrait is custom and created just for you, all sales are final. If you have questions before ordering — especially for memorial pieces — please reach out. I want this experience to feel meaningful, supportive, and special.
