Clase Azul at Akira Back: A Lesson in Crafting Experiences That Last

Last night, I had the opportunity to attend a Clase Azul pairing dinner at Akira Back in Delray Beach, and to date, I think it may have been my favorite experience yet.

From the very beginning, the evening wasn’t just about tequila — it was about story, artistry, and connection.

The Art and Heart Behind Clase Azul

John, the spirits representative, did a phenomenal job painting the picture of how Clase Azul is created. From the careful cultivation of Blue Weber agave to the double distillation process that eliminates harsh ethanol and methanol, the result is a pure and refined tequila. An tequila fans know that if you don’t have a good Blanco, you don’t have a good tequila.

But what stood out most wasn’t just the product. It was the people behind the brand. Each hand-painted bottle represents more than craftsmanship; it represents community. Clase Azul invests back into its employees through special programs and initiatives, reminding us that luxury isn’t just about exclusivity — it’s about care and connection.

And of course, there was the unintentional marketing miracle that bartenders discovered for Clase Azul. Ringing the bell on the bottle captured guests’ attention and instantly elevated the moment. It turned a sip into a celebration.

Details That Make It Unforgettable

The menu was as memorable as the tequila. Special thanks go to GM Matt and our incredible server Valerie, who guided us seamlessly through each course. Valerie’s attention to detail — even delivering my dessert with a “Happy Birthday” written in chocolate — showed how hospitality is about making guests feel seen.

One bottle in particular stood out: the Clase Azul edition with a beaded top. Each one takes over 12 hours of beadwork, secured sustainably with beeswax. It’s artistry you can taste and touch. Meanwhile, the red bottle offered a peppery, distinctive flavor that set it apart from the others — proof of how the aging process and barrels shape personality.

The Business Lesson: Crafting Experiences, Not Just Products

Clase Azul is more than a tequila brand; it’s an experience brand. The pairing dinner reminded me of an important truth in business:

It’s not just about serving phenomenal food, offering a high-end product, or delivering a service. It’s about curating an experience that builds a relationship with your clients.

Think about your own business:

  • What steps are you taking to make your clients feel seen and valued?
  • How are you curating moments that set your brand above the rest?
  • What small details could transform your customer journey into something unforgettable?

Because just like Clase Azul — the brands that rise above are the ones that weave story, artistry, and care into every touchpoint.
