There’s something special about showing up to a holiday tech meetup alone—you never know who you’re going to meet, what conversations you’ll have, or what festive sweater someone will proudly be wearing. This year’s event at The Wharf in Fort Lauderdale did not disappoint. Between the breezy South Florida air, cheerful holiday energy, and the mix of people from across Florida and beyond, it was the perfect blend of fun and connection.
The outfits set the tone immediately—ugly Christmas sweaters, light-up snowmen, reindeer hats—it was pure festive joy. The laughter was easy, and every conversation seemed to start with a compliment or a story about the outfit. It was such a refreshing reminder of how small touches of holiday spirit can spark real connection.
And the people? Absolutely fantastic! Every conversation had its own spark—stories, humor, and those effortless, genuine connections that make time disappear. I even told my boyfriend I wasn’t staying for the whole event… and then of course I did. Before I knew it, it was late, I was still chatting away, and I somehow managed to lose my voice again because I talked to so many amazing people.
Speaking of cool people I met…
⭐ Marie
A fractional CMO and consultant. We talked about family, life transitions, and her loved ones in Alabama. Such a warm and resilient energy and a very cool Grinch purse!
⭐ JP & Jacqueline
What a fun and vibrant couple! We had such a great chat about RV adventures, travel, and their time in Colombia. They radiate joy and curiosity—a couple who truly lives life to the fullest.
⭐ Jon
Rocking a hilarious Christmas sweater, Jon had everyone laughing. He has awesome daughters that dominate karate.
⭐ Kendall
A quick-witted, engaging sales pro from Queens with a top-tier cheesy Christmas sweater. His fiancé is from Long Island, and they’re getting married at The Addison. Congrats!
⭐ Luis
I joked that I never see the same people at these meetups because the tech scene here is that big—but I ran into Luis again! Always great to reconnect and swap updates.
By the end of the night, I had met a mix of smart, funny, and driven people—all united by a shared love of tech, conversation, and a good laugh. The event had such a welcoming energy, and I even picked up a few company names that will be perfect resources for some of the people I coach and consult.
Huge kudos to Allie Hernandez and Xavier Rios for creating such a lively and inclusive space. Perfect weather, great energy, and a reminder that sometimes showing up solo leads to the best connections.
